Needlepoint Blocking

Needlepoint Blocking services for finished pieces.

HOW WE MEASURE:

Pieces are measured based on their LONGEST side. Measurements are of the actual stitched design and not the canvas itself. 

PREPPING YOUR CANVAS:

Remove piece from any stretcher bars. Remove all old staples, tacks, and any loose tape. If your piece is brought to us taped, this tape may or may not remain on the canvas during blocking.

HOW TO TURN IN YOUR PIECE FOR BLOCKING:

Be sure canvas is placed in a water resistant bag, and include:

THREAD TYPES USED: Brand names and fiber content.

CONTACT INFORMATION: Include your name, email, and phone number.

PRICING: Your piece will be measured at drop-off and you will pay for your blocking service at canvas drop-off. If your piece is larger than 30" along its longest area, you will require a custom quote.

TIMING FOR SERVICES: Expect up to 14 working days before your piece is completed during standard volume. It would take longer during especially busy times, like the holidays. (Please plan accordingly to be sure your piece is returned to you in time for the finisher.)

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:

We will treat your canvas better than we would treat our own!

If your piece was stitched using all tent stitches and/ or stitched too tightly, we will get your canvas as straight as possible, or contact you if we don't believe it can be blocked successfully. Blocking can sometimes be pretty aggressive in these situations. If the edges of your extra canvas look a little pulled, please be aware this will not impact your finishing and it will be necessary to get your piece as straight as possible.

PLEASE LET US KNOW the thread types used. Our blocking process is altered based on the thread types used. 

If hand-dyed threads are used, there is always a possibility that there will be some bleeding or color transfer, which holds true especially for blues, purples, and reds. But keep in mind hand-dyed treads always run a higher risk that commercially dyed threads. Purchase your threads carefully and consider this when choosing which hand-dyed colors go next to one another.

Older canvases that were stitched long ago or recently using older threads could also have color transfer.
